Sonnet:
A picture painted with words for the ears.
Read, to be heard by those who will listen.
Made for joy, passion, and the unknown fears.
A gold that cannot be seen, shall glisten.
Written by few, for those who look, to see.
Not too far must you search for that you seek.
Created by hearts that are barred, and free.
Not one shade can describe art so unique.
From the depths of hell, to heavens above,
a piece of script can change all you believe.
For tears of sadness, pain, and those you love,
shall drive you, and all you wish to achieve.
Art that carves words, and ingenuity
identifies simply, as poetry.

I chose this poem because I put quite a bit of work into it, making sure that it met all the criteria and made sense. I had taken a liking to Shakespeare and wished to do some work related to him, and the first thought that came to my mind was to write a sonnet. While writing this I learned a lot of things, such as the correct rhyme scheme and later on the Iambic Pentameter. It was hard keeping with the right amount of syllables but that made me think and come up with different words so it would fit.
Haikus:
Fluffy Paws and tails
With Whiskers and furriness
everyone loves cats
Refrigerator
Homosexuality
Refrigeration
I chose these Haikus because I quite enjoyed doing them and it pleased me that I could write them to what ever theme I desired, which encouraged me to put more work into them which resulted in a poem about cats, and refrigerators. Haikus are also a great form of poetry because they are so simple yet complex, with such freedom and restrictions, they shape themselves and make every single line count. Like the sonnet, keeping with the right amount of syllables was difficult, especially since the lines are so short, but that made me open my mind to new ideas and helped me to stay open minded.
